EMERGENCY CARE AREA COURSE

EMERGENCY CARE AREA COURSE:  In emergency department, the patient's blood pressure was 210/113, heart rate of 118, respiration rate of 20, temperature of 98.6, saturation of 100% on room air, GCS of 15, pain scale of 0 to 10.  Code Gray was called at 08:15 in the emergency department upon the patient's arrival and he was evaluated by neurologist, was given aspirin 325 mg with the CT head done, which did not reveal any acute stroke or hemorrhage.  The patient was given Tylenol 650 mg after which his headache resolved.  Next, the patient was also given labetalol 10 mg IV and normal saline bolus of 1 liter.  Laboratories were sent for CBC, cardiac enzymes, basic metabolic profile, and lipid profile.  The patient underwent neurological status examination for 1 hour from 08:15 to 09:15 that had no neurological deficits.  His blood pressure improved from 210/113 to 140/88 and heart rate improved from 118 to 104.  Temperature remained stable at 98.7 and oxygen saturation was 100% on room air.  The patient had a respiration rate of 30 at that point.  The patient was then transferred to the floor.
